Get Back in the Spring of Things with PTPI

Image
It is hard to believe that Spring has arrived, at least according to the calendar with all the massive piles of snow that some of us still have in our front lawns. Hopefully, the weather will warm up and the plants will start peeking their head out from under the ground.

Thank you Jim for taking care of the March meeting for me. It was truly appreciated. Thank you also to all of you that inquired about my mother. It was very thoughtful of you and appreciated.

Our April meeting will be a trip to Mt. Pleasant and a visit to the Zibiwing Center. The meeting is Monday, April 7, 2014. Please be at the Soaring Eagle Casino at noon or just a little before in order to have lunch at the Legend’s diner on the East Side (left side as you enter the gaming area). Individuals who wish to car pool/caravan are asked to meet in the parking lot of the Grace a Dow Memorial Library at 11 a.m. We are happy that members from the Saginaw Chapter will be joining us. If you have any questions please call Jim Mentele who made the plans for this activity.

After eating and seeing some Native Arts we will travel by car to the Zibiwing Center(museum) located at 6650 E. Broadway, Mt. Pleasant. Phone number is 989-775-4750. The center is located on the road on the south side of the casino and a little west of the casino.

Museum Trip Planned

Thursday, November 17 at the Arab American National Museum

PTPI Midland is planning a trip to the AANM in Dearborn. We will be chartering a bus which can hold up to 45 participants. The bus will leave Midland at 9:00 am, arriving in Dearborn for a lunch at the museum (menu below.) We will have a short tour of the permanent exhibits and then see the museum’s new traveling exhibit, Patriots & Peacemakers: Arab Americans in Service to Our Country followed by discussion. The bus will return to Midland by 6:00 pm.

This all inclusive tour—bus transportation, lunch, and museum admission—will be $50 for non-members, $45 for members and $40 for students. The trip is open to the public and we encourage anyone who might be interested to join us.

The delicious lunch will consist of:

Appetizer:
hummus and pita bread
Entree:
your choice of Beef or Chicken Shawerma
or Falafel Sandwiches (vegetarian)
 Dessert:
Baklava
Juice, Tea or Coffee

For tickets, contact Deb Teot, John Metcalf or  any of our chapter members. See you on the bus.
